Not got it set up yet, but it will be graciecrafts.co.uk for the bears and other crafts that Sue makes. Hoping to get on to it tomorrow as I have the day off. I was going to Flashcamp Birmingham but it's been postponed.

Hey Paul,
I want to read working with Legacy Code next I think, or some more on project management.
It was last May when we went to Bletchley. We'll have to arrange a GeekUp trip. Nothing too much has changed although TNMOC has some more areas you can get too. When we went on Easter Monday the shop was closed in TNMOC so we couldn't buy any t-shirts or anything. That was a bit of a fail on their part.

Hey Rich,

I really enjoyed The Pragmatic Programmer too - lots of good common-sense advice and pretty nicely readable. I've just finished Steve McConnell's Code Complete 2 - a lot longer and in places quite dry, but worth a read.

Bletchley Park - love it. Anything new since we went down - was it last year?

So, how am I doing on my new years resolutions now we're into February.

1) Stop Smoking. This is going well, but not as well as I would have hoped. I have been at it for about 6 weeks now and had about 3 lapses after a couple of beers.

2) Eat more healthily and exercise. Well, I've tried to not have as much fried bread ;-) I've joined the local Virgin Active gym and go as often as I can. Working on Cardio for now. Smoking for 20 years doesn't help when it comes to running around. (Don't start smoking kids!) It helps that they have a promotion on called Go2. If go to the gym for an average of twice a week for four weeks then you get incentives. i.e. 1st is a guest pass, 2nd is a water bottle, 3rd is a towel. I'm keeping my average well up at the moment. Gone from doing 1.8Km to 2.4Km in only a couple of weeks and doing jogging which is something I never thought I'd be doing. All gearing up to do a half-marathon in 2011.

3) Read up on more stuff. Yuip, got me going there. With the help of Ashley Moran and Marc Johnson I have started reading up on Agile development and even done a little Ruby, which I hope to get more time to play with (work has gone a bit mad this last few weeks so not had much time to play)

4) This is going well with new procedures but in place for testing and project management. Still loads to do though.

Something else that I'm wanting to so is to start being more practical at the Shacknet (shacknetwork.co.uk) meetings and this year to start making some Arduino Shields.

Hope you're all having a great year up to now.

Hi, I'm using the DIN lead which means that the tape player won't play unless controlled by the Beeb. I could look at disconnecting the wire that controls this. Not had time to take a look at it yet to be honest.

Might be a bit late but re: your problem with the cassette player (not) auto starting "back in the day" I had a BBC B with the same problem. Never did get it working reliably but pressing play manually was an adeqaute fallback.

Forget what I wrote last night. It turns out there's a replacement library for the the Ethershield that supports gateway operation.

There's demo code included for a Twitter client. I ran it last night and it 'tweeted' perfectly.
